Each year, our senior students are invited to participate in a survey about the College Admissions Assistance services. CAA is proud to announce each of our 2018 Senior Survey scholarship winners. This week, we are announcing our first prize winner. Miracle Taylor was selected as the $2,000 first-prize winner for participating in our survey.
Miracle plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in the fall. She will pursue her bachelor’s in Psychology. Ultimately, she wants to become a school counselor or open her own private counseling practice. Miracle told us that ever since the 7th grade, she has wanted to pursue this career. She has always been a friend to many, offering help and advice when needed. Her high school counselor, Ms. Weaver, was also helpful in teaching her more about her intended profession.
Miracle’s mother is a graduate of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, which contributed to Miracle’s decision that it was the right college for her. She also has a cousin who is currently a student there. Though it is far from her home in Georgia, she explained, she will have family nearby to provide additional support. Also, she is excited to attend one of the HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and meet new people as part of her college experience.
Miracle thanks CAA for helping her with the ACT and SAT study material. She was also grateful for the reminders to help keep her on track. Miracle would advise all younger students to not wait until their senior year to start thinking about college. There are lots of things to consider, she says, even as a sophomore or junior.
In high school, Miracle was involved in many activities. She was the secretary of her high school’s FBLA chapter, and she also played basketball all four years of high school as a center and power forward. She also joined HOSA and DECA and volunteered with the Relay for Life and through her school.
We asked Miracle about her favorite saying or a quote that inspires her. She told us that her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, which reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” CAA wishes Miracle all the best as she starts her college journey.
