College Admissions Assistance is proud to announce Franklin Qu as the Third Prize Winner for the 2020 Senior Scholarship Contest. He has earned a $250 scholarship as the Third Prize Winner. In the fall he will be attending Cal Poly Pomona. He shared that “CAA has helped me go over my Common Application essays, as well as helping me decide my best-fit college for the future.”

Franklin visited Cal Poly Pomona in the fall of his senior year. It was a place that seemed nice and had amazing architecture on campus. This was the right fit college for him for several reasons. He is excited about their STEM degrees and that it is close to his home. He was looking for a college that provided a hands-on approach and he feels he will get that type of education at this school. Franklin is excited to learn a lot of things academically at Cal Poly Pomona as well as a lot about himself. He is looking forward to the college experience and having a lot of social opportunities.

Franklin was active in his high school. He participated in the robotics club. He loved being part of the team and enjoyed learning how things work mechanically. Franklin also served his community through his experiences in the Key Club. He enjoyed all that his high school had to offer, such as sporting events and school dances.

Looking back, Franklin would advise younger students to make time to research their college options in a timely fashion. He encourages high school students to prepare for the SAT/ACT and try to take them early. Being involved at the school is also important, in Franklin’s view, for any high school student.

Franklin describes himself as kind, artistic, and hard-working. At this time, he is still searching for his major in college and his ultimate career goal. CAA would like to wish him good luck as he starts college knowing he will find his fit with his major too. We know his high school success will lead to college success.
